DEEP COLLABORATION, CONSTANT EVOLUTION

Teams of English and Spanish or Chinese teachers share two classes of students, collaborating to nurture their students' social, emotional and academic growth. Teacher teams share responsibility for the curriculum and plan together daily. LANGUAGE IMMERSION

Avenues students will graduate fluent in a second languageand at ease beyond their borders. To this end, in all grades N-5 students alternate their days between English and Spanish or English and Chinese classrooms.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Support lead teachers to develop and teach engaging, creative curriculum and lessons, aligned with Avenues expectations and approach
• Lead guided reading groups and support all aspects of balanced literacy instruction
• Collaborate closely with a team of English and Spanish or Chinese teachers responsible for two classes of students to continually improve student learning and school culture
• Participate actively in ongoing professional learning
• Help to build a robust learning atmosphere that leads students to value being at school and feel part of a joyful community
• Inspire trust and confidence among parents and families

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

• 3 years of teaching or equivalent experience with children in grades N-K
• Solid understanding of balanced literacy approach
• Deep dedication to learning and developing the craft of teaching
• Superb ability to collaborate with colleagues to achieve goals
• Curiosity and humility, to reflect, welcome feedback, and continually grow in teaching practice
• Bachelor’s degree required, master’s candidates in early childhood or bilingual education strongly preferred
