Early childhood at Avenues is full of joy, discovery, and exploration—and unfolds entirely in two languages. The Early Learning Center (grades nursery, pre-kindergarten and kindergarten) is housed in a state-of-the-art facility, purpose-built for our unique program. The ELC experience is defined by:

LANGUAGE IMMERSION IN MANDARIN OR SPANISH
We don’t teach Mandarin and Spanish; we teach in Mandarin and Spanish
At Avenues, learning a second language is more than an academic pursuit; it is a daily practice that transforms the way students see and think about the world. From nursery to 5th grade, students spend 50% of their time learning in English and 50% learning in a second language: one day in English, one day in Mandarin or Spanish.
The Fundamentals
An emphasis on social-emotional development and problem-solving skills underpin the ELC curriculum. Children learn on their own, with individualized instruction, as well as in small groups, developing all-important collaboration skills. The curriculum consists of the following:
- 50/50 language immersion in Mandarin or Spanish and English
- Individualized focus on language, literacy and writing skills
- Development of fine and gross motor skills
- Early math readiness, estimation and problem solving
- Creative Computation
- Hands-on science classes, including simple experiments
- The World Course: a focus on self and community
- Art and music classes in the immersion language
- Wellness and Movement
