Avenues New York

Avenues New York opened in 2012. In just under a decade, we’ve become one of the most regarded and sought out private schools in a market with remarkable options and now serve nearly 1,800 students across 16 grades from Toddler-Grade 12. Since our founding, our Early Learning Center has offered a biliterate immersion program. The immersion program continues in our Lower Division. In 2016, Avenues launched Small World, our toddler program. In just 5 years, it’s become the leading pre-immersion toddler program in the city.

The Opportunity

The Assistant Director of Admissions, reporting to the Director of Small World, ELC and Lower Division Admissions, is an integral part of the admissions and enrollment team, enabling Avenues New York to meet overall enrollment goals each year.

This role ensures that our campus opens each year fully enrolled with students and families who are a great match for Avenues, are invested in the vision of an Avenues education, and bring diverse perspectives that enrich our community.

Responsibilities

As Assistant Director you will:

• Support ambitious recruitment plans to build a diverse pool of well-qualified applicants and ultimately meet or exceed annual enrollment goals
• Convey the unique value of an Avenues education in nuanced, compelling ways, and guide families through their journey from inquiry through admission and enrollment
• Help plan and execute high-quality recruitment and yield events that highlight Avenues' unique value
• Build and maintain strong external relationships  with feeder schools, community organizations, educational consultants and other potential sources of right-fit students and families
• Identify “right-fit” students and families through careful, holistic review
• Make every family feel cared for and respected,  regardless of admissions outcome
• Immerse yourself within the Avenues community  developing very positive relationships with key stakeholders (current students, parents, and faculty) to support both admissions of new students and ongoing enrollment of current families.

What You Bring

• A minimum of 2-3+ years of related professional experience, with an advanced understanding of admissions and enrollment (preferably knowledge of the private school market in NYC)

• A deep commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education
• Extraordinary relationship skills, particularly with families and children
• Exceptional ability to communicate compellingly one-on-one, in public and in writing
• Adept in analyzing data and utilizing advanced technology to drive enrollment
• A near-fanatical commitment to delivering the best possible student and family experience
• A hands-on, entrepreneurial approach, eager to roll up your sleeves and tackle challenges
• A desire to achieve and exceed ambitious goals, especially through growth and change
• A love of events and working with student and parent ambassadors/tour guides
• Keen intellectual curiosity and a mindset of openness and continual learning
• Fluency in either Mandarin or Spanish is a plus but not required.
