DEEP COLLABORATION, CONSTANT EVOLUTION

Teams of English and Spanish or Spanish teachers share two classes of students, collaborating to nurture their students' social, emotional and academic growth. Teacher teams share responsibility for the curriculum and plan together daily. LANGUAGE IMMERSION

Avenues students will graduatefluent in a second language and at ease beyond their borders. To this end, in all grades N-5 students alternate their days between English and Spanish or English and Spanish classrooms.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

The Spanish support teacher works with our Spanish teaching team from grades 1-5. In this role you will: 

• Push into classrooms to support instruction in grades 3-5

• Teach small groups of students based on their needs

• Plan curriculum with the Spanish teaching team

• Cover long- and short-term leaves in our Spanish immersion classrooms if necessary

• Partner with Spanish Literacy Specialist to support Spanish language program throughout the division 

WHAT YOU BRING

• 2+ years of teaching experience in grades 1-5 with a proven track record of student learning

• Professional fluency in Spanish 

• Strong understanding of and instructional skills teaching Spanish through a balanced literacy approach

• Highly effective collaborator, eager to listen deeply, contribute to a team and achieve goals together

• Deep dedication to learning and developing as an educator

• Very resourceful and adaptive, eager to embrace constant change, growth and learning  

• Bachelor's degree in education, teaching or a related field
